Bill Of Material Management, From An Engineering Perspective

July 24, 2015 By Jason Rose 1 Comment

I’d like to dissect one of the most complicated processes any manufacturing environment faces in designing, manufacturing, and building their products. As most people know, the Bill of Materials, or BOM, is the most essential piece of information that any product development and manufacturing company has to have. Effective BOM management allows you to have shorter lead times, less errors in manufacturing and assembly and in the end, reduces the “Cost of Doing Business.” One of the common Continue Reading

June 19, 2015 By Mark Waldie Leave a Comment

SSI clients have used the company’s ShipConstructor CAD/CAM software to design projects incorporating big new innovations with big environmental impacts. These solutions have, and will, result in dramatically improved fuel efficiency and reduced costs to ship owners. Less fossil fuel out of the ground, less emissions into the air, and less cost to shippers equals less cost to consumers and less cost to the environment;  all in all, “GREEN” looks pretty good for many different bottom lines. July 10, 2014 By Mark Waldie Leave a Comment

We are not allowed to share all the details but here is what we can say.  SSI’s ShipConstructor CAD/CAM software is used to help build several key elements of the United States Ballistic Missile Defense System. These include not just sea components but parts of the land system as well. This is an example of how despite the fact that ShipConstructor is optimized for shipbuilding, the program’s flexibility and power make it capable of handling other engineering challenges involving complex metal Continue Reading

Three Reasons to take ShipConstructor Training

June 10, 2014 By Mark Waldie Leave a Comment

Learning ShipConstructor is “easy” (compared to other software) AutoCAD based ShipConstructor software is the easiest to learn and use of any shipbuilding specific CAD/CAM application. It’s built on top of a familiar AutoCAD foundation so if you know AutoCAD, it’s a natural extension of the same familiar tool. On top of that, SSI goes even further to ensure that ShipConstructor “thinks shipbuilding” by incorporating shipbuilding concepts and terminology into the User Experience itself. This Continue Reading

Upcoming Licensing Changes and how that affects ShipConstructor Users
